Iraq: The Cradle of Ancient Civilizations.

Iraq is considered to be a cradle of many ancient civilizations. Thus, it is no wonder that there are many historical places to visit. Many of them are included in the list of cultural world heritage by UNESCO. Some of these places are Ur and the Parthian desert city of Hatra.

Indeed, I would go as far as to say that this country and its historical places are worth essay writing and dissertation writing about. According to the data provided by historians, there are more than 100.000 sites that have a great cultural and religious importance for the world community.

The territory of the modern Iraq occupies the biggest part of the ancient Mesopotamia. It is located on the plain that lies between rivers Euphrates and Tigris. One of the most important historical sites of the country is Ur , the home of the Sumerian civilization that occupied the territory in the 3rd century BC. In addition, according to the Bible, Abraham was born there. So, this place also has a great religious importance. The Parthian desert city of Hatra is one of the world’s most important cultural heritages. Many ancient cultures were developed in this region. During different periods, the territory belonged to Achaemenids, Arsacids, and Sassanids. The region has its own language and literature. Thus, it presents a broad field for research. I believe that the territory should be preserved, as it is a considerable part of the world history.
